Sessions for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Teachers

  • Rural Teacher PLC – In this PLC, you will work together with other rural teachers to support each other in the implementation of Patterns in your classroom. There will be opportunities to share your ideas, practices, and modifications with each other and to learn from the collective experience of other teachers who have the unique opportunity to teach in small rural schools. We will use a problem of practice protocol to share struggles and to ask and receive support from like-minded teachers. This will be an active experience where teachers can build relationships with other teachers. You will be expected to share your experiences and to respond and provide feedback to others.

Sessions for Patterns Physics

  • PLC –  Unit 3: Engineer a Shoe  – Participants will be asked to reflect on their experience of teaching Unit 3 in their classroom. We will use a Problem of Practice Protocol to facilitate teacher-teacher interactions. This is an opportunity for teachers who are teaching Patterns Physics to interact and share with each other, to build relationships as well as to learn from others. Teacher participants are expected to actively engage in conversations and reflections. A special breakout room will be provided for teachers who teach in a rural setting. Please view the  Unit 3 webinar before attending this PLC

  • Workshop –  Unit 4: Waves and Technology  – The Workshop is a deeper dive into key moments with equipment and teacher pedagogical practices. You will engage in Unit 4 activities both as a student and as a teacher reflecting on your experience. You will get more out of the workshop if you view the Unit 4 webinar before attending
